Safety

Safety is a priority on all UEC projects. Our goal on every job is to ensure that all work is completed safely, with the appropriate tools, equipment and methods.  UEC has instituted extensive policies, procedures and programs to provide a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, subcontractors and customers, including:

  • Weekly training sessions
  • Diligent maintenance of a project specific Safety and Health Plan for all onsite
  • Routine audits of on-site safety
  • Bi-weekly safety administrative and equipment review
  • Employee Safety Incentive Program to further promote safety awareness and performance
  • Mandatory safety training for employees
  • Posting of required safety data onsite
  • Mandatory Personal Protective Equipment, hard hats and safety toe shoes

These policies haved saved lives and avoided several accidents. Our proactive approach to accident prevention has resulted in zero-lost time accidents since 2004. This steadfast commitment to safety has also resulted in us being the recipient of multiple safety awards, including the USACE Ft. Worth District’s “Excellence Through Safety” Award and National Safety Council’s “Excellence in Construction” Award. 

Healthcare Expertise

With a dedicated focus on being the highest quality healthcare design-builder in the industry, UEC is highly experienced in managing, constructing and outfitting medical facilities. Since 1994, we have completed nearly 1,000 healthcare renovation, repair, addition and new construction projects.

UEC employs a full staff of  project managers, project engineers, superintendents, estimators, transition planners, and medical equipment planners who continually stay apprised of cutting-edge healthcare industry and technical developments.

Our portfolio of experience includes, but is not limited to hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, medical clinics, research facilities, dental clinics, medical office buildings and senior living facilities, as well as the installation and relocation of complex equipment, including MRIs, CTs, hybrid ORs and LASIK laser equipment. Many of these projects occurred in fully operational facilities, requiring excellent transition support to minimize operational disruption. With a proven track record of providing timely deliverables within budget and per scope, we can meet virtually any health care design need.

INTEGRATED DESIGN-BUILD-OUTFITTING

Although we perform through all delivery methods, we have found that integrating the design-build-outfitting processes allows these services to be provided more efficiently and effectively than traditional design-build segmented disciplines. Involving key multidisciplinary participants through all phases of construction, from bid through closeout, positions all parties to proactively address potential changes, scope issues or risks.

This collaboration and enhanced communication minimizes uncertainties in design interpretation, provides a better defined, more proactive set of project objectives and eases problem resolution. It also establishes a more accurate budget and schedule. Everyone is working towards the same goal with the same agenda, so risk is reduced. Costly man hours are not wasted in reconciling project segments or providing rework in the field.

In addition to enhanced quality, the efficiencies recognized through integration of operations also means quicker project delivery and cost savings to the owner.
