David Grant Medical Center

Location Travis AFB, California
Square Footage 307,400 SF

This highly complex design-build project encompasses the design, construction and outfitting of more than 307,400 SF renovations and on all four floors of the facility for the largest Air Force treatment facility on the West Coast. The 25-year old facility was at or beyond 50% of its life expectancy, and several modifications were needed to accommodate the latest technologies, staff increases and mission changes, as well as bring the facility up to code. Future flexibility, life cycle, and energy efficiency were also primary focuses. More than 17 departments were affected by the three-phase modernization project, including a new Cardiothoracic Unit, Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, Nephrology and Hemodialysis Center, a Hematology-Oncology Infusion Center, Ophthalmology Clinic and a modernized pharmacy and lab—all of which required varying levels of demolition and renovation, and all while the facility remained fully operational. Phase I and Phase II were successfully delivered on time, within budget, and with complete customer satisfaction; Phase III is currently tracking on schedule and within budget as well.
