Healthcare Expertise

With a dedicated focus on being the highest quality healthcare design-builder in the industry, United Excel is highly experienced in managing, constructing and outfitting medical facilities. Since 1994, we have completed more than 800 healthcare renovation, repair, addition and new construction projects.

United Excel employs a full staff of project managers, project engineers, superintendents, quality control managers, and estimators who continually stay apprised of cutting-edge healthcare industry and technical developments.

Our portfolio of experience includes hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, medical clinics, research facilities, dental clinics, medical office buildings and senior living facilities, as well as the installation and relocation of complex equipment, including MRIs, CTs, hybrid ORs and LASIK laser equipment. Many of these projects occurred in fully operational facilities, requiring excellent transition support to minimize operational disruption. With a proven track record of providing timely deliverables within budget and per scope, we can meet virtually any health care design need.

Infection Control

Healthcare construction, particularly renovations and expansions, are different from any other venture because construction activities are performed within close proximity to patients and significant operational areas that do not have the option of total shut down. But due to its unique nature, not all contractors have the infection control expertise necessary to make your project successful. With more than 5,000 deaths per year due to hospital-acquired infections linked to construction and renovation activities, there is no room for error on infection control. It is vital that the chosen team be as familiar with your facility as you are, have expert knowledge of your critical building systems, and how they will be impacted by construction.

You have likely conducted an Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) to identify and congruently mitigate potential impacts to your patients and healthcare services, but the implementation of a plan or program still depends on the general contractor. Your project’s success will depend on comprehensive ICRA monitoring, daily Interim Infection Control Measures (IICM), and compliance documentation. Our team at United Excel go above and beyond to manage infection control protocols required for your project because:

  • It’s imperative that your patients continue to heal and their families and visitors stay healthy
  • Spending time resealing a containment area, reworking the infection control plan, and stopping work to investigate the spread of contaminated dust, can set the schedule back
  • You need data to protect yourself from allegations of fault and costly settlements if a patient develops a construction-related infection
  • Your reputation as a healthcare provider is on the line
